If you look on vagcat there is what looks like a support that fits under the oil filter,might be a solution to the cantilever/stress problem?.I have seen this support on a jx engine here spain.

That might act as support actually, but if ist he plastic moulding then its main function is to collect drips when the filter is changed (I think)

Yeh, the plastic thing is to avoid disasters with old/black oil! The thing is you have to clean it of course with some petrol to install it again clean! ( I think sometimes I say absurd things...)
Where can I get this from? You said something about T4's... do they have that installed?

You can get one of those spill trays from CJ or SNutz I expect...

Yes, that is the 'sandwich plate' that extends the filter head.. either before or after the heat-exchanger

They're only a very few quid from VW. TBH I wouldn't bother breakers for this type of thing, nothing in it for them, and if they even have them they probably be knackered. Get a nice clean new one from VW while you can..
