I have a fuel filter on order, due tomorrow.
I’m thinking of getting a new fuel pump.
Good idea.?

I've a spare original fuel pump l'm bringing along next week if you can wait? The after market versions are a bit noisy.

I saw your post from 2020 to Adam.Neil.
There’s still no priming. I’ll try the direct route next. Battery direct to pump. Then check for earth issues on the neg side.
Good idea?
Rob
I can't recall details

Yes of course.
Let’s check it out before buying stuff I don’t need.
Defs for the filter tho.
Thanks so much for all your help and patience.

Will supply a new fuel filter, too. Yours for a tenner.

Met with Rob last weekend.
The fuel pump had seized and ECU not giving a signal to replacement pump we fitted.
A spare known working ECU l brought along saw the replacement pump prime the fuel system. But the fuel lines over the engine and feeding the injectors are in terrible condition. So pressurising the system caused the lines to split at various places.
Rob is working on replacing the petrol pipes using a local company selling Cohline fuel lines.
Hopefully a happy ending and another T25/T3 shortly back on the road.

Did you try a known good fuel pump relay after changing the pump? A long shot I know, ecu should be repairable if the fuel pump feed transistor (?) has failed, I have one that won't run the pump and another that locks the injectors open (floods the engine rapidly, quite spectacular)
And following on from my own recent epic: always check the TCI, they can fall over without warning.

Tested both relays. Both activating.
Most of our achievements came from issues l learned from problems on my own DJ five years ago.
Then, it suffered no initial priming. Just locking open the injectors and flooding with petrol until it poured out of the joins in exhaust system. As you say, quite spectacular, and alarming! ECU fault and yes, repairable. Rob may well go down that route and keep as a spare.
We tested the old pump off the vehicle and it is totally jammed. I brought along an original Bosch spare fuel pump. Fired up on bench without issue. But then l forgot which way round for wiring when fitting under camper. Didn't want to run pump in reverse!

But hit gold first time round.
Rob's camper briefly fired up using Easy Start down the trunk to throttle body. Once new petrol is added and all fuel lines are renewed, and with a bit of fettling, l reckon it's a runner.

Good thread, turned out well
the pump polarity is clearly indicated, moulded on the housing next to the electrical connections
Not all the cheap aftermarket ones are noisy, fyi
Pindex brand pump
Fortunately for me Chris had bought two of these when his old pump failed, and had the second one as on-board spare when we went to Ireland in 2023 for SyncroEire and mine was damaged, so I was able to fit it and continue the trip without problem - it is still on my vehicle, though I have a Bosch on board as spare should it fail
yes I know, a bit rich considering my post in the choccie biscuit thread

Thanks for the reminder. You are correct. A new pump l have at home shows polarity. Embossed in all of 2mm in size. And not where l expected. A bit like the final drive code saga.
But at the time, at Rob's home, we couldn't see nowt...especially when under his camper in deep shadow.
