Gotcha. I was trying to see something untoward or out of place, that's why I was struggling to make sense of the pic.

Well, I've run the repaired engine for 500 miles now and have finally uncrossed my fingers.
I ran the new head in on petrol with lead substitute added to give the new valves a chance to bed in. When I fitted the new engine Elite, and Steve at Gasure, recommended this so I thought it was a good idea for the new head.
I'm now back on LPG and everything seems fine.

Yep, it just seems a good idea to give new parts a gentler start in life.
Interesting thing about the old head is that, after giving it a thorough visual check, I can't see any evidence of cracks anywhere. I could take it to work for a mag particle test or dye penetrant test but the crack or cracks might simply be hidden in the inlet port behind the valve. I'm not sure I'll bother to strip it down just out of curiosity though.

What makes you sure the head is cracked?
I had a cracked head that only leaked outside the compression chamber into inlet and exhaust ports

Wow, not easy to see with the naked eye!
I assume the head is cracked because of the twin symptoms of steaming from the exhaust and oil in the coolant, both of which have been cured by the replacement head.

just added a better pic.
Oil in coolant I'm surprised at that from a cracked head,
steam in exhaust is what I had.
