The closer you caan camp to the sea, the better! If you are stopping on Mull, there is a cracking site in Fionnaphort at Fidden Farm. Not a midge in sight ther,e but a long drive down (and hourish).
Have fun, your signal will die very soon unless you are on Vodaphone

We have 24 hours here then onto Oban for the ferry. It is however tanking down and mozzies/midges like you've never seen. Still very excited to be here.

Enjoy

what site are you at?

Haha! Sorry! Well we have been to Barra and it was stunning. Now on south Uist looking for a spot to try our first bit of wild camping. Weather been kind so far but it's blowing a hoolie at the moment. Silky, the logs worked a treat and we sat out supping wine until midnight
Will check in again if and when I get a decent signal. Best wishes, Helen x

Everyone who has been there that I know, have complained about the amount of midges/mosquitos...Any feedback/advice here?
Cheers

Regarding the midges keep to the east coast then the north coast of scotland they seem to be less there for some reason Not where you are going ! but worth remembering even so
On Harris, Sollas is a top free camping spot just get to the Co-op and go through a gate on the opposite side of the road and drive 500 yards park up, the dunes and a beautifull white sandy beach is 200 yards away

Glad to hear you had a super time LMS, the islands are amazing aren't they?
As for the midges, we only came across one lot in the outer Hebs and that was on committee road in North Uist and we didn't see another until we went over to Skye at the end of our journey. We also never had any whilst on the Orkney's last year. Even when we did mainland Scotland the only place we have ever met them bad was down the west coast of Scotland from Kyle of Lochalsh. They used to say the blue bottle of skin so soft from Avon was the best thing but apparently they have become immune to that now but the new 'Smidge' spray is excellent!
