Why does lead have to covered straight away whereas bare metal doesn't?

Its not the lead itself but the immediate area as the flux is so corrosive the metal not leaded and tinned will rust in minutes

Ah ok, a bit like when plumbing flux goes green. Did the Tonka pass?

Hmmm lead...what do you use as your heat source and (this may sound real stupid) do you burn the paint off the back of the panel being loaded?


I have the gear...had it years but I have no idea! last attempt resisted in lots of lead on the floor and wasn't sure of what I had on the panel was stuck or just perched on top...

no 1, 2 , or 3 jet (oxy acety)
you seen the picky of the area before, it has to be this clean, then fryo-lux, then lead, choice of a few grades/mixes and away you go , it dont matter whats on the reverse side of the panal,

I was meaning more does up the paint on the rear burn off..it will do won't it...

as a rule yes it does, though often just scorched and still intact

Well happy birthday
had a few days away , no signal,no net,no tv bliss
had an interesting time, suffice to say i removed the nsr wing and scrapped it as i made an error(and am standing it...) and no im not going into it any hows whole van has been polished out,like this

and all visible rust removed, ,we know all the panals fit ok so no issue there, etched and then first lot of paint, this was then blocked of and tweaked then second lot applied as seen here on new wing !!

this now sits a day or two and will be hand blocked off and stopper etc where needed and then the seams will be further defined, i have managed to re-imprint the crappy klocker seam on the rear wing so its a little better and there is still work to be done,
we then prime again and and re stop it then lush colour, main thing is the hard work has been done .its now detailing,
will get better picks as even the above is not to usual spec', just got to decide on a suitable colour ?

loads of stuff away at the powder coaters, back at the end of the week
stainless inserts for the spats arrive tomoz so they can be repaired correctly
van has been coated 6,maybe 7 times ,it was grey
