Well a bit of archive footage
leaded up the ns rear join

and likewise the front ns where i let a piece in

ran the blaster along the slider mount seam, surprisingly good here and no work needed, the small hole i welded up, ground off and the then brazed over prior to discing off, no point using lead here as its only a mm or so thick at most so as good as useless

sanded off and filler free

now the tailgate area had a hole but then got the blaster on and an even bigger hole full of pod was next to it, , i cut this out and welded a small part in, (no picky but will take one from inside to show ) then a coat of brazing over all of it to seal nicely as we do not want filler in these areas

i was involved in certain aspects of the early drass systems specifically in relation to sub 250msw applications and the id of these was an issue at the time, heres the number on the side

can only be inspected for seal integrity plus other things when removed and for that system has to be surfaced etc etc, that said i have never had one fail as its not a standalone port
my explanation is no doubt as clear as mud
was my real toys, only stay this shiny when built in and loved......................

been busy behind the scenes i suppose anyhows there is a lot of instability in the old paint/finish, its still moving so are peeling it off, it looks like a fair bit has been done in the past as there is no factory coating on this side at least,
there was a long slight crease in the upper swage on the center side panel, as sen better in previous picks so all the filler was removed to leave this

so had about 45 mins on it with the hammers and now "pod free"

its one of those jobs that seem in stasis then move really quick,

Nice really looking forward to seeing it roll out of that yard all shiny! And all that filler gone, reckon it might increase my mpg with all that weighty pod gone

indeed but i had to attend to an area i had already done, the ns step i was happy with but when the doors were rehung to check alignment and to sand (easier than laid on a trestle ) i saw that the door gap along the very bottom was not parallel, bugged me so there is nothing else for it

gap was 1/4" greater at the rear.so took a tapered slice out

annoying as i forgot to rehang the door after making good here, lesson learnt, ( painter pi$$ing himself and giving me loads of stick
but soon all made good with new steel

will dress it all up with the sanders etc tomoz and maybe lead it where needed as its a high load area
door fits nice now and the contour and shape of the front of the arch is ok now

rest of van is de-painting nicely and should be in self etch very soon as not much filler needed

Well ended up leading the step
previous pick somewhere shows the new steel behind this flux

not the easiest area as its thin in places and well shape speaks for itself and i was too idle to remove the door,( 3 mins, yes i know) so i did it left handed anyhows its fine and as its a high load area then i have no worries


quick coat of etch as leaded areas need covering asap

need to take a clearer pick tomoz
and confirm door is good

now to get the tonka truck tested
