Well lots happening but im too tired to do much so just a couple of pertinent picks
this part now welded in place,

i have finished it but will do the other picks tomoz
here you may just be able to see the evidence of the welds on the inside of the seam, pass side not too bad but again mirror welding on the drivers side you may laugh but it works

and other side

so i have loosely refitted the dash and connected up what needs to get it to run and it fired up straight away so i must have got the wiring right new cooler seemed to run ok in so far as no noticeable leaks and hoses stayed on,so of on the back of a truck to paint. im off down over the next week as there is fettling of details and leading up a few areas etc

Well got a bit a sunburn nearly, been working out in the fresh air so all that grinding dust is off and away
noticed the start of a crack here in the latch, usual place so will weld it up before refitting

sorting the gutters and removing bits

its quite good under here

need to think of protection as the top drains into/onto this area
gutters are now straight

as i said before ,only two areas of bad on the window frames. here

and the start on the tailgate

so just caught, they will be blasted and leaded within minutes
sanded of the spots on the lower front to defo section, and a coat of product, before next stage of work on this part

tidied up this area, well more a case of reinstating the circular shape

you straightened up those gutter's nicely! Cab roof looks in good nick too.
I see the horn is removed too, end of a era...

Yes, i do like that shade and can't picture the van another colour. There are other colours i like, but i would need every sign of blue covered which is impossible/expensive.

Question time.... Why is it that on my van that the window rot is on the raised section? The windscreen was the same as those two shots above, I would have thought that either the 'dip' would rot or the lip?

to rust the presence of air and water is required so they always start to go on the outer edge first, once the rust starts to build up it distorts the seal increasingly allowing water and air to penetrate further, also salt and cleaning materials get into the seal from the outer edge, rain is acidic so that originally starts the process by removing the paint and obviously small damage to the paint in the seal areas when the windows are fitted goes unnoticed, someone not removing a wedding ring for work could do a lot of damage; when we went round Hanover plant I noticed a good few workers not wearing all their ppe, I asked about it but the question was blanked by the guide

just found the fryolux so made some more lead sticks to my blend and will now be able to blast and lead up tomoz all being well
