got all my LED strips from hong kong today to use as lighting. tried em quickly and they are well bright. gonna fit em on the weekend. cant wait, i think they will look great and probably more functional than the normal lights. they are only 3w a strip and last supposidly 50000 hours. 6x 600mm strips with 30 LEDs on em, all delivered for under a tenner. didnt really know what to expect but they are brilliant

nice one where are you planning them for? i used LEDs at work and they are very good.

going to cut them into the carpet that is on the plates that cover where the roof has been cut for the pop top. also going to fit one in the roof but switch it from below so the kids dont play with it and i can say when they go to sleep . gthe last one i will fit into the storage at the back just in case i need to go in there at night and will also light the engine bay ( hopefully wont need it for that ). been waiting for em so i can finish the wiring.

got the LED's in amongst other things today. just waiting for it to get dark so i can see how effective they are but i have no doubt they will be bright enough.
as i said before, i cut em into the carpet and hid all the wiring in the body of the van.


they look very blue in the pic but they are white with a hint if blue.


they is one on all four panels and another in the roof for the kids all switched from here

also pulled a feed up for the flip down tv which is going between the seats on the roof. got some phono/video leads up there as well as i am going to mount a ps2 on the end of the kitchen behing the driver seat. keep the kids quiet on journeys and rainy days. just got to make a bracket so i can slide it in and out.
managed to fit the seals for the sliding door track covers. got them off of flea bay as a company is doing them new. fit really well.
going to order the hob/sink this week. keep meaning to do it and a customer has finally paid up so no excuses now. hopefully it will arrive next week so i will finally have a camper again once i have fitted it.

well chuffed. led is definatly the way to go. 3w a strip and all running is just over an amp so economical as well.

Very nice indeed. I'm off to howdens today to choose some kitchen units as they are cheaper than b&q and I get discount through my company I take it you used 500 or 600 deep units then cut them to shape?

yeah, used 2x 500x300 carcasses then went mad with the 2x1.get o tall fridges unit so you get 2 massive pieces of matching gloss to cut up and make the rear end. if you are using gloss, make sure you score each cut with a knife first and get yourself a nice new saw.

Just chose the units, well be getting a teak effect to keep with the look of the van and the retro feel. I be speaking with my led suppliers next week.

nice one, check the prices on the LEDs but i reckon they wont be as cheap as the hong kong ones. i checked with my wholesaler and all over the place and couldnt find em as cheap. they were here in a week as well. depending on what wattage they are i wouldnt bother getting decent sized cable ( you will see what i mean when they arrive ) just back em with a 2 amp fuse and use some general 0.75 flex. if you are clever about it you could wire a 4 or 5 core up the pillar behind the drivers seat giving you plenty of switch lines and use a common -ve. i am not a fan of strapping to the body as most vehicle faults would be half as easy to trace if they were wired this way. volt drop due to cable length isnt really an issue with led's either.

Done the insulation and hardboard for the areas behind the units and wardrobe today, been looking for a decent Lino remnant as I want to put this down before the units and under the rock n roll bed, no luck with the Lino though is there a way you can let me know the eBay seller you bought yours from so I can check them out?

they have got a hint of blue in them so if you want pure white then punch in 12v led strips into ebay and they have pure white on there. the prices vary hugely.

Red, main power feed, yellow, relay swithed feed to fridge, green, feed from switch, black is earth. The coil provides the feed to the switch on the devon

Lovely van Billy we have just bought a shed that may or may not be a Devon.....or at least based on one (see what conversion is this thread) and i am all excited about tackling it after reading your thread. Those LD´s are super cool. I dont know about your kids going in the roof i would want to go in it too!

thanks for the comments. i would love to get in the roof but i would not want to be underneath me if i did if you get what i mean.
