Nope, all it would mean is that you wouldn't be charging your trailer batteries with a high amp connection until you could get your own vehicle fixed.

In that situation you would obviously just flick the switch that reverts to the piddly trailer plug....

I didn't ever say i wouldn't, that was your assumption. Gotta have something to run the tails lights havn't you? I just suggested that an Anderson connector for charging batteries at a high amp rate would be a good addition.

It should a be a 70A alternator, which is capable of delivering quite a bit more than its rated Amperage depending on the charge level of the battery its charging.... (i know this because i tested it)

Whooo hoooo.... good news, its a 90A unit and according to the vehicle history file I have it appears to be the original. I may get that refurbished before it dies.

Now back to trailers ...... Make them strong and make them light!

No one here has mentioned solar power for charging.

Been looking for a thread i read a while back and just found it. There's some great info here with regards to Solar charging. "tencentlife" seems to know his onions with solar!

How big is the market and what research have you done to evidence potential sales ?

It is quite a specialist/narrow field and if you have a look in various LR sites there is already quite a few sellers. What makes yours so unique/inviting that people will want to buy one ?

Im guessing you are looking at the top end of the market (well into 4 figures?) rather than a £300 halfords jobbie.

Thanks for your comments. Yes I have done some research, yes the market is probably saturated with expensive "dedicated" trailers most of which seem poorly thought out and heavy IMO.
It is my assumption that most people do not want a dedicated expedition trailer, but would be interested in a trailer with option add ons that could be removed. (covered earlier in this post).
Im going to build myself one when I get chance in between designing cars, if it goes well I will take it further.
