Hey!

Good luck syncropete,

I was at the beggining of this year in a rally (Africa Race, driving a truck) from Marseille to Dakar, we stopped near Dackla in a petrol station, and I met an english girl who was there with a VW Camper living in that area with his german boyfriend for 3 months at that time, they loved the place and stayed there. Africa is really a very beautiful place to drive, enjoy, and please if you have a blog or something with pics, tell us!

>Good luck<!! :D

Just checked on Muna's updates -well Sharon has and
Quote:
Made it out of the desert with just a broken clutch – which is not bad considering the terrain!! In Nouakchott, Mauritania fixing it quickly, as 3 Spanish UNICEF workers were kidnapped a few days ago on the high way to Nouadhibou. Lucky we went through the desert!!
-Says Muna.
Some very nice piccies on there aswell, Pete and Muna look like they are having a whale of a time. Shall try and put some up when a bit more time is available.

They've got there safely - well more or less.

Muna posted on Facebook:

Finally arrived in the Gambia….almost in one piece, apart from Pete’s hand! Who would have thought that water skiing off the back of a fishing boat using a piece of wood with a rusty nail sticking out was not a good idea!!

It could only happen to Pete ... :)

I'm hearing Muna's voice rising over the last few syllables, will miss those strident tones

.. who would have thought :)

Hope it heals well Pete and your Tetanus was up to date when you left.

Just done that trip - watch out for the Senegalse boder rip offs - they charged us around 200 euros to get out of mauri and in to Senegal

Cheaper fuel in Mauri compared to senegal and much cheaper in western sahara but they dont like you taking in gerry cans

We had the standard dip/typoid/tetinus, polio free from the docs and yellow fever 42 quid. But was never saked for a certs when crossing borders

I hope that helps

PS I have a lot of info on border crossing costs, visas and petrol costs if you need them
