They're used a lot in boats and are advertised as safe for use in caravans, campers and tents and can be bought new for a lot less than Erberwhatsitcalleds. Maybe not such a good idea if you've got kids or dogs in the van but if it's just me and the missus and we just want to take the chill off. What do you think?

Has anybody out there used one of these?

I've used one of these but would never dream of leaving it on over night. There OK for day time heating.
Mine is now sat in my shed not having been used since I fitted my Eber.

Eber's are the way forward, there's nothing better than getting out of the water in January and getting into a nice warm van :ok

Thanks.

That definately seems to be the general consensus so last night I bought one off eBay £250. I figure it's got to worth it if it means I can use my Bus all year round. Plus it's cheaper (and more controllable) than a new set of heat exchangers as and when they pack up.

Now, does anybody have any advice on fitting?

Is it best to wire it to my leisure battery or starter? (How much juice do they pull)

Can I chop into my existing heater ducts so I can direct the heat ho feet / screen / rear cab etc? If so where's the best place to do so?

Has anyone on here ever done a guide to fitting one of these?

I'm sure I will have a million other questions when it turn up on my doorstep.

Big thanks to everyone for all the help / advice. :ok

where ever you fit it , make sure that its a nice flat surface and don't over tighten the 4 fixing bolts , if you do and it slightly twists the body of the unit ,it will / could burn the fan out ,very easy to do and quite expensive to repair.

you could bring it to Cromer and get some advice on fitting it and look at where folk have fitted theirs :ok

Thanks for the advice.

I'm hoping to have it fitted before Cromer so I can be toasty warm if the temperatures drop. Although same weekend last year was red hot. (I remember this coz it's the weekend I got married so Cromer will be our 1st anniversary)

No hook up I'm afraid. It's not a proper camper. More of a bus with a bed in it so I'm just on 12 volt.

I have a zig unit etc that I thought about fitting but I really dont fancy cutting a hole in my bus for the socket.

boo!
i am pretty busy, however if you can fit in with my time off hours im sure we can come to some arrangement.
BTW, even if you have a spare wheel tank for the LPG you can still mount the ebber tank above it where normal busses have the radiator, you will just have to remove the grill to fill it up, but a gallon lasts a goodly long while.

you can use the ebber on the move, and you wont need to mess with the heating pipes to get the heat in the cab either....

you connect to the leisure battery (and some have a changeover switch to the main battery for emergency use too)
give me a shout when it turns up.........before you buy any other bits.
