OK I tried big suckers and no they wouldn't pull off, but on wet days they would travel to the least point of tension.
J rail and 8's are superb

just tried the drive away awning kit this weekend- superb!
survived some heavy welsh rain and v easy to put up - no pissing about with clamps and poles

Yeah def found it a lot easier than the clamps.

I know this is probably labouring a point, but after much deliberation I've bought my self some 'C' channel ready to be pop riveted in to high top.

Just about to purchase the driveaway attachment as per above http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/Ou" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... _kit__2515, (Standard Drive away fixing kit.) but just wondering how long is the twin piped beading in this kit, does it match the full length of the tent beading (Royal Traveller), I understand the twin piping is 1600mm long?, I think the tent beading is about 2500mm and my 'C' channel is about 2500-3000mm, just thinking about watertightness etc, did you purchase the standard kit as shown above.

Have just took a look at ours and the twin bead piping your refering to is 3 metres long and so is our 'C' channel rail . More than plenty enough for the awning and figure of eights attachments. No problems with water getting in either.

I've got the 'c' rail at about 3m, I guess I was thinking along the lines that if the figure of eight strips, are not the same length as the rail then there would be gap between the double bead strip and the awning bead. You dont have to answer as its got me beading confused and you've been more than helpful already!!!

We use three figure of eights at 76cm each = 228cm in total. You need three for the royal traveller awning like ours.

There is a built in flap of material on our awning that covers the figure of eight strips when the guy ropes are pegged down.
