dosent it prove that there being lots of pug diesels in the scrap yard, that they obviously sold more pugs thann vw's?

also check the milages of the diesl pugs! thay have usually done 3 times as many miles as the vw diesls have in the same amout of time! and the engines are still running perfect ,

the french just cant build a decent body to put the engine in!(thankfully)
give me an original vw and a pug with 200000 miles on and we will thrash them to the death and see which one lasts longer!

oh i forgot you cant find an original vw engine with 200000 miles on!

and no , i havent had probs with head gaskets at 100000 miles on put td's, i have 3 motors at the mo running 150-190000 miles all original and as sweet/original as the day they were born!

I don't get it.
You've bought a VW, why comprimise it with another engine.
if you want a subaru, buy a subaru, if you want some frenh kak, buy some french kak, why oh why oh why buy a vw then stick some sh!t in it?
Beyond me.

C25 anyone?
Fiat Ducato?
Peugeot Jumpy, or whatever that are?
All dog sh!t.

i like vw's always have , but from experience in the trade the psa diesel engine is far more reliable/ cheaoper /easier to maintain than the vw unit

im doing 15000 miles a year and my van is working a lot harder than some , probably half these miles are with an aframe towing another van!
in my experience the vdub engine would not cope! even if i spent loads tuning it it still would not perform like the psa!
i like the t25, have had a few but with the psa fitted its like a modern car to drive, and no, i dont want a modern car, just like to keep up with traffic ,even fully loaded!

My AAZ has aprox double the 90bhp of the psa. AAZ's are very easy to get more power out of with little expense just knowledge.

You also won't find many people in motor trade that have anything good to say about french sh1te.

my psa is 110bhp standard.
but same thing with the 1.9 psa they can be tuned to give 180bhp with a cam, 110 with just reseting /mild mods like yours.
each to there own ,you obviously are happy with yours, me with mine.
i personally tho dont belive i can do the work my van does with a vw engine i just paid 100£ for from the local scrapyard, with full confidence.

i would like to see you fit a scrap yard aaz to your van and drive it like you do your tuned engine,.

Is it a 1.9 or 2.1 though.

My tuned engine is extreme but as standard performace can be vastly improved without spending a single penny.

We also come back around to the adaptor plate problem, there is 2 of the phil kits i know of with problems, vw diesels use stock vw parts not something knocked up in a shed.

As Simon says why don't you buy a peugeot jumpy and get the whole french feeling of bad engineering?

ive done about 45000 miles in my present van,5000 in my camper,55000 in my first panel van which died of rust , and have never had a clutch or adapter problem ,and i am using the van for heavy work ,ie a framing other vans around.

i have now switched both my vans to 2.1 psa's as i get extra power and for towing or a fully loaded hightop with 4 people in helps.

if i looked at your van i bet it has non german parts, tyres/oils/batterys ect and even vw use parts not made in germany so the point about french parts is not valid. , in fact before your van was made it may have been a 2cv! just recycled all be it about 10 of them.

the psa was put into loads of vehicles even boats, why didnt royal mail by citreon vans instead of ldv's with pug engines?

Get real, i was refering to french engineering standards, i am aware vw make stuff in france but to their standards. The french car makers engineering standards are by far the worst in the world.

Well you have seen the pics of phils badly engineered adaptor results, someone else also had almost identical problems.

VW engines have been fitted to just about everything that uses an engine but what does that prove. Don't get the citreon and ldv bit they are both complete sh1te.

yep

totally agree french cars are total rubbish ,always have been , always will be.
the psa is the only thing they have ever got right so ive put 1 (several other conversions) in a more deseving vehicle, which has an engine that dosent quite hit the mark.
together they seem to create a versatile vehicle.
