Hello,

For what it is worth....

I installed the cheapest, plastic backed, 200 watt (allegedly) flexy solar panel, with a simple controller, charge splitter relay, and low voltage cut off device,

about 2 years ago, all off that well known auction site for about 400€..

The panel is fitted directly to the tin top roof. When the van is not in use all electrical circuits other than charging are cut off.

Result: working fine, it is a sunny morning here, and I will hear the relay clicking on and off. The starter battery charges first.

Even parked with little direct sunlight, the starter battery is always charged.

However, as the panel is flat on the roof, I expect to get a maximum of 80 watts at 12v.

I have a portable compressor fridge/freezer 350€, and a Chinese diesel heater 200€, with a 140 hr gel leisure battery 210€

Rather than use an inverter, I have a 12volt charger for the computer 25€, and LED lights throughout modified from Lidl.

So for about 1000€, the van is autonomous for about a week, Summer and Winter..

Air-Cooled Bliss.. 8)

Cordialement,

:ok
