Here’s one for you! Rebuilding hydraulic tappets today did three and then went to withdraw the fourth and both circlip and push rod socket were missing, anyway could they of fallen in engine or has someone failed to refit in a previous rebuild?

circlip could have fallen in sump but I'm not sure pushrod would fit through hole into sump don't think hole is big enough.

Yes checked this with one from other lifter and seemed to big, it ran well before dismantling, how would it run with one of these missing?
If it has fallen into sump is it an issue?

Have found push rod plunger, on floor in garage. However, clip still missing must of fell into sump! Can you get new clips? Feel like I should replace all clips.

Hi, do I need to put sealer on cylinder head sealant rings. They are new but Hylomar has been suggested. Is it worth doing? If so where can I get or is there an equivalent? I have this.....

With new heads, I use a light smear of silicone grease to help prevent the O-rings getting nipped.
It also helps the next guy

If the heads are used, inspect the barrel sockets very closely. Any pitting will cause a leak and sealant such as Dirko will only hold it for a while (if at all)
I tend to err on the side of caution and scrap more than most would.
