Get yourself down to citizens advice and find out exactly where you stand, as far as i am aware anything that is sold has to be as advertised.
The seller has sold you a vehicle that is not roadworthy and has essentially taken your money by deception do you really think that he has suddenly had a change of heart and is willing to put things right? Surely if he had you would be getting your money back.
I have seen people in this position before and i am confident that what you will get is plates slapped on over the top of the rot that is there and eaven more work to do in 18 months when the rust has eaten the new metal.
Any mot this guy puts on a vehicle means nothing as we already know he has a friendly tester with no conscience.
The only outcome you will be happy with long term will be reimbursement. If the seller is not cooperative just remind him that his friendly blind mot tester would most likely not be a tester if vosa see that van.

if you want a proper local inspection make an appointment at The Hotworks in Tring. They restore these as a business and know them inside out and will tell you exactly what is what.

Seller wont agree to this but you could suggest you had the work done by an independant specialist and send him the bill.
How can you trust a garage that sells a van 'they had intended to keep' which is 'rust and rot free' to do the high quality job that is needed to bring your van up to being worth £6k
He was willing enough to spout the bovine excrement to sell it, it wont stop there!

It's a kennel, nothing more.

WHS ^^^
If I'd bought it I'd be calling Trading Standards and trying to get at least a full refund. Even the paint-work in the photos looks pretty shoddy. 6k should get a lot better van than that.

I just googled the description of the ad you posted for your van, and found this van for sale on e-bay?

Where there's shame there's a claim - and that bloke should be very ashamed of himself.
He's so blatant.
Look at his seller name

This just gets worse and worse. Same description for every van he sells? Make sure you print out that listing, drive to his garage and tell him you want your money back right now or you will go to trading standards. End of.

Emmm, I feel for the buyer, I really do. What year is the van ? Do you have the full advert when you bought the van, with the original photos. The seller must be a bit thick. Is he running a legitimate business?
The problem is the guy is offering to repair it, id say he wil just plate it up,in the eyes of the ministry of transport that is good enough, so you need to out think him before he starts. Can you Answer the questions ive put at the top.
