Any idiot can hit the buy it now on an earth strap from ebay and get the wrong thing, I'm trying to home in on length and spec and where to fit, easy to work this out for some but not for everybody.

Much of my specific T25 knoledge has come from reading about detailed solutions to problems on here and the yard so hopefully this thread will help to provide that.

I don't buy from ebay unless I've no other choice. I've sussed out who sells what in my local area and try to support local business as far as possible.

For starters you need to work out length you need. Personally I'd just make one - would take all of ten minutes to solder one up.

M8-M10 eyelet 36 inch 25mm2 cable arrived with M10 nylon penny washers and M10 Nyloc nuts.

fitted today, starter spins as well as before...

Lovely job there mate...makes complete sense. Same place as mine on the starter, I chose a shorted route to the O/S chassis leg (no drilling lol) I'll take a pic at some point.
I'd be a bit wary of routing the cable between the braided feed to the starter body and the 8mm positive stud. Although extremely unlikely to ever be an issue its just tempting fate a little.
Great to see a credible alternative that should completely eliminate corrosion to the gearbox nose casing...although I see you have took the belt and braces approach and used nylon washers there even with the earth braid removed?

Thanks to this thread my engine now fires up first time. I changed the strap last night to run from the starter motor to the chassis running parallel. There was already a hole so no drilling required.

(I upgraded the battery earth to the same gauge cable as well).

some vaseline on that would help it stay that way, close to wheel so need to reapply perhaps every year.

I've just put a 9" earth from the top main starter bolt to the side of my engine bay.

Earth is 10mm on starter bolt and 8mm the other end, drilled out an existing hole in the engine bay to 8mm in order to fit it.

Seems a good place for the earth, tucked out of the way from the elements and easy to check.
