Cranks paid for and on their way back :)
Piston design will be getting a tweak and barrels are now lined up.
Must speak to Newman Cams.
Anyone potentially in the market for a 2.5 wbx?

hey silver bullet, been reading what you been up to with interest.. What piston bore sizes are you using? If bigger bore than stock pay attention to the flycuts in the case.. my piston skirts were clashing quite bad at BDC with 96.5 pistons fitted. I just put my engine back together and in van today, going for the big start up tomoz as run out of daylight earlier.. i will update my post with some pics and a write up of all the fun we had during build when i got 5.. will say also beware of JP cam followers!! 3 out of 8 new ones went straight to the bin after strip down as thery were rough as hell... i put CSP telescopic tubes in though so plan to get some better ones and do a full change over later as not trusting quality of the current acceptable ones longterm! as i said will get a few pics upsoon on my thread.. TES bodged engine build..

regards steve

Hi Ian- yes potentially. You may know that I've been talking to Simon about a WBX. I have not pm'd you about this tho' because I saw that is what you asked. Please PM me if you want but no urgency because you have far more important stuff to deal with.

Pete

Steve: this engine built to Oettinger 2500 spec, I have a genuine one stripped down so there will be no snags.
silverbullet wrote:I now have a pair of 2.1 crankshafts winging their way across the Atlantic for rework to 82mm full counterweight spec.

Should have them back in about 4 weeks.

98mm liner and piston prices pending. These will be UK made & highest quality, not chinky "pooh" monkey metal

Pete: glad to hear it, I am itching to get one built. The business cant stand still, got to keep moving forward.

Right on. Get in touch as soon as you are ready.

What caught my eye first was what you said on 17 Jan about it being easily good for 100,000 miles plus. Our Syncro is a keeper so longevity of a known engine is a critical factor for us. :ok

You've just got to look at the condition of the 2500E I stripped down. 200kkm and all it really needs is new crank bearings and a re-seal.
They do last well, if serviced properly.

Been meaning to reply to this - time flies...

Pasties and clotted cream we can do...

Newquay Steam is sadly no longer available (I used to be a fan) - a victim of its own success. See this link: http://boakandbailey.com/2013/11/newqua ... -own-beer/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and this one: http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ ... t-beer-go/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; My ex father in law worked as a brewer for Redruth Brewery Co for 30 years and was involved on the shop floor in the development of Steam beers.
