What gearbox are you using ?

Do you have any other pics of your install that you could link to ? I am really interested in what exhausts people are using? and what they sound like .

I didn't do this install as bought it from my mate but looks pretty much the same as my ej22 conversion which I did. Main difference is the turbo clutch setup but rather than na one. Gearbox is just an AHU code originally mated to a 2.1. The exhaust is an rjes one but they have stopped selling them now. I used a TVR silencer on ej22 which was OK but a bit loud so I added two extra powerflow silencers. If your ever near yarmouth/Norwich area I'd gladly take you for a spin.

Does the H6 need the turbo style pull clutch ? Or can the standard hydraulic one be used ?

Pretty sure you need the turbo clutch setup. The belhousing comes with very good instructions tho so not a problem. I've got loads of pics of ej22 conversion on my Facebook which I think are open to public if you search Chris fryer. My profile pic is a silver magnum multivan

Don't you believe it! The EJ is already becoming a "classic" engine with parts prices & availability to match...

Well they have been making them since the late 80's... phase 1 closed deck are much prised by the racing boys (£1200+ for a crankcase) and if the engine runs a big end then you need a new crank 'cos they are very difficult to clean out after a regrind, but the later cranks dont fit the early case without precision machining work...
If you have an EJ and are in for the long haul, my advice is to buy a complete, known, good spare engine of identical spec and store it with care.

Good advice. Spare engine lurking in the garage is a good idea. Cheaper than a rebuild. But then a well looked after ej should be very trouble free.

Just organised my donor engine... 2.5 Quad cam just need to sell my Holdsworth Hitop to fund the rest of the conversion parts from RJES . Really looking forward to starting the project.

im watching this thread with interest as now planning to do a conversion

I've got a 2 litre non turbo Impreza coming in if anybody wants it as a donor?
Rusty rear subframe was reason for sale, nothing wrong mechanically
belonged to a friend of mine & well looked after
Won't be expensive - about £350 complete

Hi christofy sorry to hijack thread but I am now going down the subaru route as my 1.7 ky snapped the crank on the acle straight. I am regularly your way and would love to have a look at your install just so I can get my head round a few things. Cheers Gareth.
