Well it has taken some doing but after seeing this thread when it started I have been working on these since with an electronics company and had them made to our spec.







New one on the left with much nicer warm glow light,

It's 550 lumens and not just a cheap strip of LED ribbon poked inside of a tube, apart from the unique defuser the bulb has been de bugged to adapt to DC10-30V voltage, so when the vehicle voltage fluctuates, the lights will not have any flicker.

To resurrect an old thread. This is relevant to the tubes above the kitchen units in the T25 westy.

To those who have dropped in a LED tube, Have you removed / bypassed the ballast.

From alot of reading it just seems plug and play which surely it cannot be.

I am contemplating this little upgrade.

Hiya, yes you still have to bypass the ballast.

My 86 westy has the brown briick type lights. I took a look inside and there are circuits on both ends of the light fitting.

I cant find any instructions on a ballast bypass on them so will give it a miss and live with the wizzzzz of the fluorescents starting up.

It’ll be the same principle as in my original post.
