Collapsed vent pipe? (the 11mm bore one that connects to the filler neck, same on your panel van) might be the culprit.
Tank drop to sort it though.

One for the petrol heads - we had real trouble filling the tank as the petrol kept frothing up the filler neck to the extent that it was taking the best part of 15/20 mins to fill. A quick read tells me there are a variety of filler necks / tanks ?? Possible that something is blocked ( breather ?) or a some point something has split and the wrong part fitted in line ?

I love this thread

From when it started it has been a, I know something you dont know thread and a I am in on it and you lot are not, its great and perfect better than the best and no faults, etc...

Then you get the guy who actually bought it saying he is going to take it through any lane with the rest of us because it isn't a museum peace after all, take a load of tat off and whack a diesel in it.

Dont ever change Jes we love you :ok

Here you go. Only got the ones off Mobile.de for now

Here's the filler detail - any chance of testing the collapsed breather theory by pushing a smaller bore down inside the 11mm to try and open it up ( stent style) ?

The long rear wardrobe door changed as a cross over from the beige interior to the very early grey ones from 1995-1996 and Westfalia from what I have picked up must have got feed back that it hits the rear swing out table when you try to open it in 1997 and they made it shorter from then on. Your Westy Jes was probably one of the last ones to be registered before they made that change. I hope this helps and congratulations it is a really cool van.
