Great thread. Looking forward to the next exciting episode. Makes me cringe when i see sills being swept up of the floor! Magic work MetalMikey and keep smiling Helen, gonna be very jealous when i see the van out n about next year.

Well i will save a comment to thhat till maybe tomoz
today had the hardest job to do , . decide where to make the cut toi gain access and at the same time make life easy but before coming to that part i have removed the main part of the nsr wing as there was enough tell tale rust for me to be fairly sure that i would not be able to do much with it

even vans that appear to be so called 'rust free' have rust in the seams, its starts at manufacture and some it comes out early .other not yet but they all have it :cry: which is why you cannot ever give a guarantee with this sort of thing,only give it your best shot .
so ive decided where to cut and open it like a suicide door

now we can have a proper poke about, not much to poke though :lol:

chassis top cleaned up and dosed with weldthrough,feel happier now stuff is starting to go back in

so i need a new base, easy,make one, ran out of thicker sheet so had to nip out at 5 and cut some :D

spent half an hour and now a trial fitting, i have deliberately cut the panal at an angle as this is easier to adjust ten a 90', also i have kept the majority of the original as its perfect so will let the new part in to continue the piece 'as built'

i will drill the part over the chassis leg and puddle weld through

final fit in ,its ready to weld in the morning

and the gaps here will be just right to fill with weld so should be easy to sand over and not look like its done

will no dopubt cut it off and add a new bit as its too bad to blast in my opinion
this shows the rear wing as its sandwiched between the C post and middle panal, theyre fun to extract as will become evident :rofl

welded the rear tray in,this is raw before tidying up

reminds me of doing an NDT in the real world,, scary, not needed to make it perfect as it will be seam sealed

Now we are getting serious :cry: gonna have to remove the trailing arm ,and cut the mounting off and start again i think, so it looks like a little more of the inner sill will be used,

what else to do? could leave it but then the van would need cutting open again later to sort it..
never a dull moment.
Oh and these pickies are with Cruz's old canon.nice to use ta :ok

out of interest mm, what structural parts of the van, if rotten, are unfixable and make the van a write off or can everything be repaired?

i have yet to see something that I cant repair,structural or otherwise, ,time and hence cost are the limiting factor,if i said that well some years back a new well 900ish mile bay had been crashed and if i recall the roof middle floor and front and osf were all that was salvagable, mid floor back was scrapped, dont know if it was worth it, wasnt my problem but a pig to do.
this will also be entertaining,but in a slightly different way.

I do hope the van doesn't prove to be too badly behaved for mm :ok
