140 trouble free miles this weekend. Either replacing the vacuum pipe has done the trick or we got lucky - either way was great to get out and about and have a drama free weekend in the van!

The van behaved perfectly all weekend. Just don't want to jinx it by saying its definitely fixed! (We did go to Glastonbury so perhaps the hippy vibes are making me superstitious, man)

After another 150 miles of incident free motoring in the T25 over the weekend, had another series of stalling when idling on my way back from 5-a-side football on Wednesday...

It was only a short drive home and was fine for the first 5 minutes, then began stalling whenever not being revved.

Got home, left the van for a couple of hours, restarted it. Idled fine at first, but after revving it then began to struggle and eventually died.

Yesterday afternoon, started and idled OK.

This morning, started and idled OK, but I've noticed that if I tickle the accelerator and rev the engine a small amount, it seems to struggle idling after that. If I rev with a bit more gusto it has no problem returning to idling - does this suggest any particular problem?

did you put the restrictor back?
is the choke flap set 3mm

Get your carb set up properly, make sure the choke is working as it should be.
Air leaks, or choke left on can all cause these problems.
I know lots of other things can as well,

I have had my carbs serviced by a really competent carb specialist who made my van behave just like you describe yours when he was setting it up and telling me which seting being wrong produced each symptom.

No.

As the removal seemed to have fixed the problem, it hasn't been replaced. Cue 'I told you so' ?

Yeh, I think once the choke is definitely set up correctly (and despite the restrictor removal, I'm pretty sure my mechanic has done this properly) the carb is the next thing to review.

Just in case anyone who had a similar problem was following this thread, I thought I should give an update.

Had my carburettor reconditioned by Bromyard last month and since then have had no issues with stalling. The van is also generally running a lot smoother, so I'm really hoping that this has got to the bottom of our troubles! With regard to Bromyard, they were quick with the reconditioning (the carburettor was with them for less than a week) and very speedy at responding to emails (they've been criticised on here for being hard to get in contact with in the past), so overall I'm very impressed with their service.

Hopefully that's the end of my stalling story.......but I've probably jinxed it now!

could you give us a ball park cost of this service?

I had a carb done by Bromyard for a friends van and it was £215 for the rebuild and £15 for the return postage, it transformed the van. Well impressed..

It was £300 for the full reconditioning service. Repair is cheaper.
