Does anyone rate silverline tools?

Ive been looking to get up date/grade my tool kit.

silverline stuff is cheap and chearfull...does the job if the job requires basic hand tools...still concens me that you are going to attemp a cambelt change without the vw tools for the job, im not saying it to insult you but if you break your AAZ it will be expensive. there are no "tricks" involved in doing the cambelts correctly, just the right way or the wrong way and without the locking pins and dial gauge its the wrong way, i work at a vw garage ( for many years)and have seen many times the results of peoples failed attempts, it may start and run, but then in a month, a year, or even two something breaks (a tappet top comes off, or front pulley comes adrift say) and the engine is damaged for good..peoples comments on here may appear critical but they are people who have seen and done it, learnt by there mistakes and dont want you to go there...please take heed of advise rather than dismissing it as insulting your intelligence.

Going no where and questions not really getting answered , This is causing friction between members.

Cooper please ask your questions in the correct area's of the forum , any that we think are in the wrong place will be move.
