I wasnt meaning gas, I meant that I don't know how long the leisure battery would run the propex fan

They cost £15 from Lidl called a TRONIC and you could fit it yourself it's not rocket science, simply wire it to you mains RCD in the van. It's a phased charger for leisure batteries, nowt technical or expert needed :D
I sell the C-tek version (same) and it's £49.99
Lidl just get them cheaper as they bulk buy.

Sounds good, I'll look into it. Not to sure about the connecting it up. Would this allow the battery to power the propex as well as being charged?

yes it would allow your battery to be used.

same goes for the power to the propex... it uses X amps and your battery can supply y amps for z amount of hours... you do the math :D

Cheers Kev

The sticker on the battery has been worn at bits and I can't tell how many "x"s there are. Not too sure how to work out the propex rate of consumption either, but I get what you are saying!

Thanks

Also my van has 2 rcd's, one for the socket, one for the fridge, which one should it be connected to? Doesn't it need one of its own?

Made a discovery... our leisure battery is actually a 45 amp car battery

So, need to source a decent leisure battery.

I used a car battery for three years as a leisure or auxilliary battery.
It really depends on your camping requirements.
just for lights and a laptop over the weekend it's fine
