Epic, I really wish we had done the Picos, but it is English lanes like the last one that I really love.

Great photos.

Yes Simon, I agree, there really is something about some English lanes...

rare, special, historic, even atmospheric perhaps? I really hope we do not lose too many of the special ones...

You know what Clive, you have hit the nail on the head there. The best times I have ever had is when doing a few lanes and just as its getting on a bit looking out for a camp spot on a remote lane with awesome views or into that tempting clump of trees just after the last of the days walkers have disappeared back to their cars and headed off home. The rare, special, historic, even atmospheric areas to camp in are really quite special and a highlight of my life and best of all you never see anyone around until you head off the next morning after a strong coffee and a well though out and strategically places alfresco poo in the wilderness. There really isnt anything more satisfying

Its what owning a Syncro is all about to me.

Just on that note of enjoying our rich heritage of lanes a note from the TRF that might be of interest to our Surrey Members.

A local Councillor to West Horsey Guildford had a real bee under his bonnet about a group of lanes in that area. He started a petition at Surrey CC Guildford Local Committee for a Traffic Regulation Order banning vehicle use citing damage.

Because of the relationship the Trail Riders Fellowship has with the rights of way officers the TRF was notified of this fact and asked for a response ahead of the public enquiry needed to impose the TRO. These officers did not agree with the councillors proposal but such was his influence the committee went ahead with it anyway.

Anyway, the TRF drummed up 1000 letters of complaint and co-ordinated a well measured counter attack gathering evidence, advertising what the proposed TRO and badgering the council with freedom of information requests on previously reported damage and incidents.

The TRO was overturned due only to the work of the volunteers at Surrey TRF, take a bow lads.
