i don't recognise the shift rod support bush, is this tucked away inside the spare tyre plate?

is the gear linkage bush part of the first link's kit?

and the gear selector bush?

hiya pootle or anyone else, when you dropped the spare tyre (which i presume you have to do to get to the shift rod and bushes?) did you have to jack up the front of the van or get the van up on a pit, or can you drop the tyre and remove it and replace the bits?
also, can you adjust the holes on the gear lever plate without jacking the van up or needing an inspection pit?
what's the purpose of checking these holes, do they fall out of alignment and if so, why?
procedure for adjustment says:
MOVE GEARBOX INTO NEUTRAL POSITION
CHECK GEARBOX IS IN FACT IN NEUTRAL (how do you do this, can you pull on a shaft to pull it in neutral?)
SLACKEN CLAMP PINCH-BOLT SECURING SHIFT RODS TOGETHER
SET LEVER ON GEARBOX TO VERTICAL POSITION (as apposed to diagonal or at an angle?)
MAKE UP A GEARBOX ADJUSTMENT SHIM (will wood be ok and what size and dimensions?)
POSITION SHIM AT BASE OF GEAR LEVER CENTRALLY ALONG LENGTH OF STOP PLATE IN HOUSING
(can anyone explain this part or draw a picture and upload it for the wiki?)
PLACE GAUGE BETWEEN STOP FINGER AND STOP PLATE, THEN TIGHTEN CLAMP PINCH BOLT.
REMOVE THE SHIM.
any info you can get to make this clear i will be very grateful because i would like to try and achieve this.
thank you!
