Like I said though - I've only had to warm the butane bottle once.......just I'd prefer being guaranteed not having to ever again

Hiya Bren

I seem to remember seeing a thread on here, think it was by Ghost123 about unbolting the 3 bolts on the top of the propane bottle, the ones around the neck, allowing the bottle to fit....... :ok

That's exactly what I do with the 2 i have under the bed, just make sure when you swap them for refilling you ask for one with the bolt on handle rather than a weld on type.

So what size propane bottle is that then? I don't have much space at all; and even less where the spare is kept...

You'll fit a 4.5kg in there with the 'handle' removed Bren, they're about £14 exchange from 'Go outdoors' up by me.

I've got a 'Go Outdoors' by me too but I've also got a 'Flogas' down the road which is miles cheaper for 907's so I'll have to investigate. It's more about the being able to use it in really cold weather than the refill price but "every little helps".

Need to source a regulator and a couple of old bottles first - I'll try the local waste disposal site, you never know....

Cheers lads :ok

Regulators aren't expensive Bren. 7 or 8 quid. :ok

Yeah I know Martin, it's more the botttles I was on about. The bloke in the Flogas place seems a nice enough chap - maybe he'll do a 907/propane bottle 'swap'; although in this day and age of "computer says naaaw" I doubt it'll be down to him.....

I have a Propane bottle - 4kg one I think. I refill mine with LPG (which is propane). Costs me about £5 a time. I had an LPG fitter make me up the filler. Screws on to the bottle and then you attach the filler to it. The only hassle is that it doesn't auto shut off so you can only fill an empty bottle. It is 2 litres per kg (roughly) so I fill it with 8 litres. You can't fill a half full bottle because you don't know exactly how much is in there.
