Lovin my 63 quart chest fridge/freezer this summer. Holds enough food for a week or beer for three days!

I have got a compressor fridge in a T4 westie and its brilliant its usually set at 4 degrees but can also go to minus and become a freezer. Only down side is as it is a top loader i feel its a little more awkward than a conventional fridge design to lad and unload.

I just bought a T25 with an electrolux gas fridge in and have to say I am not keen on running a gas fridge in a camper...but thats just my choice

BUT...all the cold air stays inside it when you open the lid!
But i hear what you're saying about the loading / unloading, it makes them a bit more awkward to fit into the van generally. Cant fit anything (like a cupboard) above it, cant put things down on top of it, or you have to move them all to be able to open the lid.

Have you seen the "two zone" things that are available (for Engel's at least, not sure about Waeco?) gives extra space and a slightly warmer zone meaning you can crank up the fridge with the beer in it really cold, pop your salad in the two zone compartment up the top without freezing it, nice!

Yeah mine has a raised bit above the compressor which is not meant to be as cold.
On the cupboard issue, while trawling the Internet ive seen a few fitted in cupboards. Well more like drawers(BIG) so you just pull it out when you want to use it. Think it was a terra conversion? I'd probably do something like that, if I ever built my own camper.

Engel make a slide out tray thingy, buts the cost is ridiculous!

When I finally get round to it.... I'm going to measure the actual consumption of my fridge with a clamp meter.

I'm interested to know exactly what the engel draws whilst the compressor is running. See if it's anything like the quoted figures. ( it is a fairly old model mind, think the newer ones perform even better)

just amazed that the engels quote 1w consumption.

I think mine is quoted at 2 amps when running.. I'll have to check if my clamp meter works on DC?

Have to say I'm impressed with the sterling, the last couple of weekends I've been away, the fridge has been on all weekend without starting the engine. Also running lights, stereo ect. When I get home batteries are fully charged again.
