Im debating sanding the spots a bit as they look a bit 'proud' will see tommorow and maybe dulled a bit by u'coat :D
Oh and in keeping with its Teutonic origins I had Rammstein playing for most of the time, sad but hey I like them :D

That looks really good! The more I use mig, the more I realise what a "blunt" form of welding it is.

Well Im working on it inbetween eating and typing, motc in the morning so finnish tonight or early start? tonight won.
The card deflector that fits on the bottom of the rad was in my opinion collecting water and funneling it straight to the seam at the rear of the bit Ive just replaced, cant help so I have trimmed it so that all water will run to the ground instead

Its now got some primer going on

and now a touch of green

Ha! Will now have to check mine aren't doing that! Bought new ones years ago, as anything that aids cooling even 1% on the TD diesels is worth a try

Just back out on mine after a cold dripping winter... quite a bit of surface rust showing on those de-zipped and de-spotted panels left open circa November time, oh well.....

Jim you have my respect !Rammstein int everyones taste but it works for me and competes well with the grinding and hammering etc etc, :D

Harry M if you have a look I think that a new deflector will by design sit flush along its length right behind the panal, as you know the front panal fits with a right angle on its bottom to the top of the crumple bit! also there is an angle of appx 1/2"x1/2" tin that is also welded to this crumple pieceand in turn spotted to the rear (vertical) face of the front panal,
the factory apply a bit of sealant to the front of the front panal as I have done but then do no more.
so behind it it is open as such to the ...... yep you guessed it ,the deflector, so water is then guided to this seam and over 10,15 + years it destroys the front panal., design fault in my book.

Chriss, that is sexxxxxxx on a wire, deutsch tutonic functunal stallwerks, If I had Sonne playing the world would be at one..
mike :ok

it was 20 years ago today sgt pepper told the band too play....well 2 years to the day so thought i had better get the finger out and make some forward progress so the undressing commences...the idea being to make this hunter modular
& add demout as in a roadranger kabine ...ee20 boxer etc etc...but nothings as yet set in stone but an expedition doka @ the end of the day is whats loosely planned...so off with the branch deflectors guncloset and other hardware to unveil what ever nasties are still hiding ...hinde quaters looking not too bad :D
