got to totaly agree with al on this one. which ever tyre you choose there will always be a compramise. i now run 2 sets. a set of bfg mt 215,75,15 flr play time. and a set of micherlin van tyres from a t5 215,65,16 fitted on to a set of ml wheels. the difference in the way the van drive is astounding. it is like having 2 different vans. it is one extrem or the other for me at the moment
there is no one tyre that can perform all of the tkme under all comdishions.
at tyres are a good compramise but if i were to go back to a set it would be a set of grabbers or bfg. many of the other so called at tyre look far to road based for me to be comfortable to venture off road

not a syncro expert or owt, but ive got these

Just a little side note, all terrains (im talking BFG as that's what I have experience of on my Syncro) perform much better in snow and ice than road tyres or mud tyres.
They have thin cut sipes in the knobbles which are what provides traction in the cold stuff.

Yeah, AT's are far closer to winters than MT's.. in snow etc, lots of edges are required.. AT's generally have a lot of edges...

I tried BFG MT in last years snow and ice and they were useless. This year i used a Conti M+S marked tyre and they were brilliant. It really is down to the sipes in the thread design. I never looked closely at a BFG AT tyre to notice sipes but the next time I see one I will look closer as Im looking at replacing tyres this year as the Conti's are past half worn and are 5 years old now.
