stuck my finger over were the screw should be and idle went back up to normal, so i decided to try and bung it with a similar bolt loosly untill i get the correct screw, plus i checked the other side and that 1 is fully tightened anyway,

now it feels like it did before i had this problem, back to normal, so i dont really think this screw does alot to be honest,

van is running great, i can now do 75mph easily all day long aswell wich is much better than when i first got the van (55mph tops)

Just remember that running the incorrect mixture can be catastrophic for an engine. If the mixture is incorrect it can make the engine overheat. Many years ago I re-built a 250cc two-stroke engine for a motorbike. In the search for more power I re-jetted the carb and fitted hi-flow air filters. The engine ran perfectly and the bike would pull over 100mph which was quite a bit faster than it had when it left the factory. After a few short test runs I took it out for a blast into the country side. After 20-30 miles it lost power so I coasted it to a stop. On inspection the crown of one piston had melted and had a hole right through it. That was an air-cooled engine with no temperature gauge, but at least it was a lot cheaper to fix than a VW one would be.
