I recently fitted the JK full stainless system to my 1.9 DG
It actually comes with clamp on warm air intake pipes if you want to retain them.

Great system, very quiet, fitted well.
Allow plenty of time to remove the old one and to deal with an almost inevitable sheared off Stud :?

John Dee

Do you have any pictures of the said JK exhaust system as it might be my choice if there is a sale or discount on offer.

Cheers Mark

I've just bought the JK one as it was 15% off over the weekend, picked it up for £467 inc VAT, pretty pleased with that deal.

I'll send over some pics when it turns up Mark.

They are back to normal price now but Paul at VWSpeedShop has confirmed that he now has a few of their stainless system back in stock for £480 inc VAT. http://www.vwspeedshop.com/product.php?productid=16733" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

cheers
Danny

I have been searching for exhaust systems tonight.
Seem to have worked out there are differences between the early and late vans, but wanted to pose the questions:

If the early ones are not held anywhere else apart from the engine, can you fit an early exhaust to a late van?
( Without the supports )

It seems you can fit late designs to early vans, so it would be logical that you can go the other way too....
Got the MOT coming up, and I know mine is rotten

I plan on keeping the van for a while, but would also like to know how long other's mild steel exhausts have lasted?
Is it worth the extra money for stainless?

Late system won't bolt straight on early engine as the engine carrier is different so no holes for silencer cradle brackets. But you can fit early system to late van.

Does anyone have a picture of the two different engine support carriers?

Seeing as this is a resurrection special I thought I would add a quick note..................

A little while back I had a problem with a manifold downpipe from JP Exhaust (Macclesfield) who had supplied the whole stainless system over 7 years ago. A crack had developed on the tight bend and it had begun to blow badly. It could have been welded but it needed to come off to do so - if you're going to that trouble then you might as well replace the section.

JP Exhausts honoured their lifetime guarantee and were brilliant. All I needed to do was to supply a pic of the crack (and that was really to make sure that I had described the correct part) and within three days (I live in the Highlands) I had a brand new replacement section.

In conclusion: If you're looking for a stainless system I would say that I've been thoroughly pleased with my purchase (that crack has been the only snag in 7 years) and I can't fault their customer service and support.

Mick.
