if anyone buys a jp exhausts system and wants to use the 8090 express i can pick up from jp..

I had longlife in Carshalton do me an exhaust a few years ago, (an aggressive twin tailpipe number) they said they would never do another one. Its true Axeman did drop his van off for one to be made a couple of years after that but i think they didnt want to do it because they wasnt told the van was a syncro and they would have to do even more bending around the bash plate rails. Personally I cant blame them as it would be a right prick to do from scratch and I think Baxter sells all the stuff now anyway.

If I was in the market for another s/s system I'd get a Baxter version because of the interchangeability with the standard system. I have a JP and other than the carp fasteners that come with it I've been very satisfied with it. Then again I prefer to rely on the red lights and rev counter to tell me I've stalled

funny you should mention that ian.i looked at mine today alas it seems you cant buy ss "u" clamps.what do you intend replacing yours with..

I'm thinking of just swapping them for heavy duty 'off the shelf' ones mate, the originals have lasted just over 2 years I'm quite prepared to swap them again in 2 more

Just in case you all forgot to shop around I bought one of these from the Speedshop brothers and have had nothing but sweet harmony since buying and fitting such a system....and that was 2 and a half years ago....

How would you go about changing any parts that get damaged or fail?

You have got my attention.

I think a decent, cheap but lasting compromise on an early dg/df would be Turbo thomas headers which I think are £180 the pair in stainless and a decent german mild steel box, even if you buy his SS box its got to be cheaper than 550 or so. Fitting is not hard, you need to spent a week with wd40 or a diesel/parafin mix to soak the studs before trying to move them or as others have said drill out and re-tap as necessary. Very satisfying job to do. Personally i got the late system but only the front and rear pipes from the block in SS from Brickwerks and fitted a new knuckle and kept the newish mild stel ernst box, lovely job.

If stainless steel contacts mild steel it rots the mild steel.

If you're going for stainless, why only do half of it? That's like using s/s pipes welded together with mild steel wire
A bit self-defeating to say the least.
