there should be an engine earth from below the coil to the block where the metal pipe from the oil cooler to the tstat housing bolts down, these ignition systems like a good earth so fit one - there's a proper M6 tapped earthing point to fit it too

I'd suspect the alternator, especially if off wrong vehicle, the size of the pulleys matter, the T3 ones ensure the alternator is turning at the correct speed, fit the wrong ones and low and behold not enough ooomph

stick back on the old 45amp one and see what you get :ok

I think that earth by the coil is connected, though it looks very small and abit pathetic.

I hope its not the alternator, I tried to put the old 45amp back on but can't find the pulley nut and its not a standard thread size as I tried to get another.

The new alternator looks pretty much the same as the old one, and I swapped the pulley over so it should be turning correctly.

I will try find the pulley nut for the old alternator, but I might aswell try fitting an earth wire straight from the alternator to engine and check the battery earth aswell.

90amp alternator is broken doesnt work at all, but the excitation wire was also broken.

Fixed the wire and have put the 45amp alternator back on.
