Right then - bought new Hall sender from JK, stripped dizzy down but when tried to fit new unit, the wiring connector is too wide for the dizzy body cut out by some 3-4 mm!!
The JK site does say may need to retain connector from original unit but this was what broke off so need a new one...
So my dilemna, which of the following is best course of action do you think?...
I've tried trimming the new clip with a hacksaw and it is closer but still doesn't fit and not sure I can go much further without going right through the body of the clip.
Trim the body of the dizzy housing so clip will fit - not comfortable doing this and would rather avoid unless last resort.
Get another clip from somewhere - but where would I get one from?
Any ideas greatly appreciated...

Did you test the hall sender unit, there is instructions on how to do that in the bentley manual.
Mind you thats not helpfull with your current predicament. i think your only option is to whittle off more plastic until it fits

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!
She's running - yeeee-haaaaaahhhhhh!
Put new fuel psuh rod (very kindly donated by Woodola - Andy (thanks again), turned her over and she fired first time!!!
Sounds great - got loads of grunt but gonna take it easy for first 500 for obvious reasons.
I am so chuffed with myself. Never rebuilt an engine before or done anything like it so massive sense of achievement (and relief) after all the pain and problems we've been through
Got a leak from the rocker covers despite 2 new cork gaskets but took for MOT on Saturday afternoon anyway. Unfortunately they had to abort the test becuase of this and the risk of the engine seizing but he said if I resealed with Tigerseal could see no reason why it wouldn't pass so booked back in for Weds. Everything crossed as we hoping to go to Dorset in her next week for our hols...
Thanks ever so much to everyone who helped and put posts on - we could not have done it without you.
Cheers,
Chris
