Out of interest, what did Aiden do to your box?
He's doing mine at some point, but I can't decide on what exactly.
Acceleration is great with the standard box, but I'm not sure how much of this I'd lose with taller gears.
My van has a similar output to yours, factory claim 160bhp.

Defo go the Aiden gearbox route with the 5th gear. Mine just tickles 3000rpm at 60mph and thats before it comes into the power and kicks off. Oh and mine is just the weedy 125bhp.

believe it or not my twin turbo gives better fuel economy than a 1.9 dg. I used to have a 1.9 many years ago and it drank fuel.
The scooby is ok on fuel even with the diesel box' still in!! I clocked the scooby doing 21 MPG on a run

Poss 280bhp.....
engine will go first.......
then box.........
Detune it and it will last a bit longer.... apparently a stock uk 200bhp Impreza is quite reliable with reg maint...

Nothing wrong with 280 bhp - that's small beans for an Sti! Look at the subarugears.com website and contemplate a reversed diff Subaru gearbox, which will handle the power all day long for years to come and not waste the dwindling stocks of VW transmissions.
You've already got the box in the car...you won't need to buy an expensive conversion bellhousing or build a hybrid clutch, driveshaft adapters are available too. The "normal" gershift gate is a bonus

Ooh I like that - "puts gear box to one side in Garage"
Looks like a shed load more work though eh?

Found a sticker on the slam panel says it was rolling roaded at 65000
It's got 260 ponies - nice, 225 at the wheels...
