In 3 or 4 years? You're not trying hard enough - I've been a complete embarrassment to mine since they were 8 or 9 . Not that I play on it (cough, cough) but it does become a useful threat to keep them in check - one mention of picking them up from school in a pink hat or daisy covered van and they soon behave

We have one t2 bay and 1 t25 Viking and 1 bongo. I'm about to buy my first t25 and another person is hoping to buy one soon, so you won't be on your own with your van!!

m not a single parent - but often take the kids camping. we have a huge age gap, stepdaugther is 11 and son is 2!, but they both love it as I am much more of a slacker than their mother in terms of what is and isnt dangerous etc for both of them!!!

Only thing I dont leave home without is the laptop, downloaded movies on the hard drive save space over dvds and it is worth its weight in gold - keeps the toddler happy any time - especially when he is opver tired and needs to sit still and wind down, also nice for older kids and grown ups in the evenings!!

Best of all when the wife stays behind, I get to stretch out and stop waking up licking the wardrobe!

I have been a single parent for more years than I care to remember We used to go camping a fair bit with tents when they were young. Often as far as France and Spain. However all my kids are far too grown up to go camping with their Mum any longer, although I think one of my daughters is reconsidering Since taking ownership of my camper I have been away a few times with just my little dog for company and we had a great time!! Wherever you are and whatever you are camping in there are always people that are happy to get to know you and have a chit chat, although I think my hectic dog is a bit of an icebreaker I cant wait for next year when I can venture out again and in a couple of years drag some of the grandchildren with me too

Just go for it, you wont regret it

Not a single parent but am planning on having a few trips away next yr just myself & my son. He's 16 months old now & where I work shifts I get to look after him a few days most weeks while my other half works, keeps childcare costs down plus we get some quality time together. So midweek trips away even overnighters less than 30 miles from home should become the norm.

I have two daughters who still go camping with me and always for summer hols in France. They are too grown up at 20 and 22 and should have lost interest years ago, but they still love their dad and probably love the van even more. They have decided that they are both coming with me to vanfest next year as well. I guess this closeness started with one on one away trips to football matches when they were small - oh Stockport County in the middle of winter such sweet memories! They are both my buddies. We are off to see Saw Doctors tomorrow and will be in the mosh pit together having fun.

my kids are in still living in australia do miss them,it is when they are not around that you realise how much you take things for granted when you see them all the time,my daughter is 24 and my son is 33

Didn't you have plans to visit them next year? I bet you can't wait!

I was watching a video the other day of mine as tiny tots, it seems like yesterday and yet they're now 10 & 11. They grow up so very quickly

I think the biggest shock and yet the most fulfilling..............is when your babies start having babies took me a while to get over the injustice of being launched into Grandparenthood but now I'm loving it :Lol:


They are sooooooo going on holiday with their nan in the campervan

This has inspired me to try and get away in the spring with just me and the baby. She has camped in the van lots before, but we hav e always had adult (wife) supervision. Keen to give it a bash solo!! Come on Spring, not long now...

Similar here, I often drag my two away for a week ( 9 and 8 Years ) as its hard to get the same time of work and cover School holidays etc.

Just caught this thread, I too feel funny, a bit odd camping by my self I feel I'm being watched ( single male must be a "peado" stylee ) I've sometimes felt this way @ club/show camps too !! silly 'eh. P.S. I would'nt mind drowning in a sea off single mums, I and one or two would'nt be single long might make me feel like coming to more meets to

Blinking Heck with this many single moms with vans I might get divorced lol.
