I have a bluebird type 2 spare wheel rack no the back of mine. I have to say I like it. Its good quality and bolts onto your bumper so theres no drilling of panels involved.

I like the ones on some of the small land rovers that have the brake light over them. They would look good.

have looked at these but without some major mods would be very difficult, would be easyer to start from scratch, i like the bb one but will hold off for a while till i can get exactly the one i want.

What about using a bracket that goes on the nose of Baywindows, and mounting it on the tailgate.
Has anyone tried it?
Would the gas struts support it?

gas struts wont need to if you use the copper pipe trick, may need to lift the tail rather than it open of its own avvord. the bay bracket comes with expanding bolts to mount to the front of the bay, I dont know if they would be suitable for the tailgate, but i not other bolt and nust would do it. whether the tail gate itself would take the weight of two tyres is another question! may be OK if not opened.
