Couldn't tell you mate. I'm not too mechanically minded. Just learning.
Limited slip diff wont stop it going backwards unless its broke....
brakes are a good un.. as shoe could be "locking" against the drum..
Does reverse work ok? or wont it move??
is it 5 speed? could be 1st/reverse sysncro hub breaking up... (same thing happens as 3rd/4th)
