1.9DG, Hi-top, 24 mpg on lpg, 27mpg on petrol on A-roads, steady 56-60mph, runs sweet on both. I'm satisfied but appreciate that lpg is not for everyone which is probably good news for those who use it.

Ran LPG for 2 years, 20-thousand plus miles, no issues, engine ran more quietly and smoothly than it did on petrol (or seemed to!). Only stopped running because of change of engine and carburettors. Waiting for new vapouriser to get connected back up. Can't wait! (If you have any worries about top-end wear and tear try www.flashlube-europe.com ).

I agree they are generally smoother on LPG and are reliable as long as it does not backfire. To me the major downside is lack of power, every vehicle i have driven on LPG seem to struggle on hils, even vehicles with proper petrol engines and not waterleakers.

Finding LPG stations is also an issue unless you have a really big tank.

Our's still has a p****l tank .... cos I'm running on it at the moment

How many LPG stations? How many diesel stations?

Forgot the bit about taking all day to fill tank.

Here in our neck of the woods it's not easy to find gas. I have to make a special trip of 27 miles to get gas. Council has gas, but sells it for 4-6p more so is cheaper to drive then pay their inflated price. When in France last fall we had to use a couple tanks of petrol finding gas.

Too true mate. Last 1/5 of tank takes forever.. and we have 80ltr tank (holds 62-69ltr depending). But for less then half the price I can deal with it. And I don't have to deal with the diesel stink either.

yes, it takes about twice as long to fill, yes, not every filling station sells it...... but its more than twice as cheap, its green, and no matter how many times you read these threads, those that cant have it will cry......

When in France last fall we had to use a couple tanks of petrol finding gas.

bad planning , we did 3.5k in France last year , all but 20 of that was on GPL , and the 20 on petrol was cos i badly planned the fill up , get tomtom with lpg and gpl pois and plan you fill ups

as for taking longer to fill , yes it does ,but that does get you more time to gloat and laugh at people paying 120 p/l for diesel

I had it on both of my vans but channged to proper engines with power. Twice as long to fill, are you having a laugh.

hehehe here we go again .. blessed are the diesel drivers if i wanted to get there faster i'd go in the car or on the back wheel of my bike

My car has a boxer engine so its slow.

As for bad planning, it was first Sunday... stations open for CC use, but no attendant and GPL not on without attendant. Second time was finding 2 GPL stations; one with no GPL and other had broken pump. We traveled for 3 weeks and probably used less then a tank of petrol in all. Had a great time.

We now have a Mio gps, and plan to put poi for gas, aires, etc on it for next trip. Problem is it uses a different system then Tomtom. Would like to hack it and put tomtom on it sometime.

we can tomtom it at the bashtie llyod, thats easy.......

as for having a laugh, Andy, only at your entusiasm for agricultural engines in the alt fuel forum..... if its installed properly, it wont take long than twice as long to fill the same litres, some as just as fast if they use the bigger fill pipes........

just because you had bad experiences, dont mean we all do........

Ours fills quite fast until the last 10ltrs, then it gets slower and sslooweer and sssloooweeer.
