I have now removed the starter and the soldenoid moves when powered up but the motor does not turn over.  So I have ordered a replacement (matched the part number of course).  Will report back once fitted!

I am struggling to bolt on the new starter motor as the upper bolt passes throught the flywheel housing and a nut is required to be bolted on to the long bolt.  See the diagram.  I can't get the nut onto the threads (highlighted in yellow) - maybe I need someone to help?

Any ideas welcome - I used a spanner to hold the nut in place but not maanged to pick up the threads on the bolt which I was turning with my other hand.Image

Got a friend to help - another set of hands sorted the bolting on of the new starter and so we tried it out!

The engine fired up and of course with some old petrol we turned it over quite a few times but what we noticed was sometimes it started and the engine spun up to 4000 rpm and then died.  It is not yet runing over on its own.  I wondered if there is a problem with the fuel pump or is this something to do with the Digifant system.

UPDATE:  I forgot to plug in the mass airflow meter so that sorted the problem and she is alive again and running smoothly.

I can't load up the video but this image is when it fired up for the 1st time.  Clean exhaust and no oil burning off!

Thanks for all the support - She is running well and starts on the key.  A few issues - one blown fuse, I also have the indicators on when the headlights are switched on so I am checking the earths.  I am about to insure her and get an MOT.  Not sure what might come up for an MOT but I have a local T25 garage which can help check things. :ok
