So inner tracking rods arrived about an hour ago wahoo. I'm here now and I can't get them to screw in . Anytime it starts to catch the next turn of the spanner until catches it. Is it a case of thr new rod should just screw in or am I missing something

Makes life easy. I have used one on a T4 ( excuse the language) as well as my bus.

I'm actually just sick of it now like, ready to throw a match and some petrol into it and just walk away

Post up pictures of what you are trying to do

you should be able to get them started in the threads without a spanner, I wonder if it has been replaced previously and the tab not cinched into the notch and that's why it was loose; if that's the case the threads might need a little attention, not sure what size they are maybe M14 x 1.5mm same as wheel bolts ? If they are could make a tap out of a wheel bolt to clean up the female in the end of the rack

Literally I'm just trying to screw the new tie rod into the rack and it's just not biting, it's the same dimensions as the old one.

The thread looks damaged and it looks like something is in the end of the rack

I think the threads are ok as I tried the other rod I have for the other side and it is a similar problem. But the old rod flies in and out no bother.

I can see what you mean in the image that it looks like there is something stuck on the rack end but I have rand my finger and a flat head screwdriver around inside and nothing has come out or feels loose.

Good suggestion Aidan as well, the wheel nuts fit and can be screwed in and out no bother. I have had the van for the last 10 years and the tie rods have never been touched in that time. They are fairly worn though when I compare the stiffness of the new ones to the old ones though

Wahoo it's on! I loosened the drop link to try and get it as straight as possible and it bit, just about, but a bit of jigory pokery and it's on now.

Next step get speedo cable in and all ball joints tight

Thanks for all the help with that issue folks, I'm sure I will be back in a few moments with more drama

Also should I put copper grease on any of the ball joint threads?
