fitted the bushes this evening.

These came from Brickwerks, ordered Monday evening arrived Wednesday royal mail free postage which could have been 2nd class but no it was 1st class, 5% off as usual great service :ok

A piece of tube over the rod to stop it grinding the paint off.

Image

lashings of copper grease on the other end...well why not.

Image

just could not get the rod to thread in miles out becuse this van has no weight I thought...

Image

jacked the other side thinking the weight would shift over but it was worse

After a few minutes the penny dropped, if jacking the other side is worse I need to lower the other side

Image

set the distance as measured before
Image

lashings of silicone grease on the cup to help stop corrosion

Image

held the cup in place while tightening

on the other side I found the rod was no so central so it needed a bit of manipulation of the jack

I wanted to paint the rods to prevent corrosion, cleaning them with a wire brush removed more of the plating, so some card to prevent over spray on the blingy bushes

and some paint

then rain stopped play

itchy looks good. Looks like something I will have to do soon, after crawling under my van earlier!

I was just wondering how you support your van on a gravel drive- I am looking into different options and have read about axle stands and trolley jacks slipping on gravel any help would be great. I have ramps for wheels on jobs and for some stuff I just crawl under but for wheels off jobs I need a safe solution.

Many thanks

I use high density breeze blocks laid on their sides three on each side and a block of wood under chassis rails by jacking points.

my gravel is well packed but if not use a metal plate under trolley jack.

I'm not recommending it to anybody but as you asked it's what I do, I have had the jacking police at my door complaining before so you choose your own method that you feel safe with.

I see you have gone purple - what made you go for that rather than the softer yellow you were considering ?

.... or Swedish engineering with a British mechanic when fitting Powerflex ARB bushes........ 3 years and two MOT's without comment. It took me 5 minutes to realise what was wrong

Took it for a spin to the New forest and didn't really notice much difference, I think over bumps it's better, particular cattle grids and may have been better cornering hard, not sure.

Anybody know what sort of situation I should expect to see an improvement?
