Heres an email I received when I asked for a birth certificate a couple of years back.

Thank you for your email, please be advised this department no longer processes Certificate of Conformity requests.

Please email the address as below with VIN number of your vehicle, name and full postal address.

the typeaproval one worked for me in september got a prompt response and a letter a few days later

Ok thanks, I got a mail failed response bounced back. Ive been in contact with VW on the phone. So hopefully should get an email in the next few days.

I got my vans birth certificate today. It was made in May 1990. It was first registered in January 1991.

I maybe need to try that email address again as I have been in touch with VW customer support who friendly enough but not much help. Told me to look at my registration documents from DVLA.

Have you tried this one.I was told by the type approval folk to use it. It worked for me.

I got a response October last year but , check the spelling

Although it does make my van tax and mot exempt , do I have a dilemma?

It happens occasionally that’s why there’s odd registration plates sometimes

Mine says she was manufactured in Nov 1985, but registered in April 1987!

Think I will look into this mine is a 86 Gipsy but the chassis cabs are sent over to Karmann at a earlier date and sometimes hang around for a while
