Bugger

Is there a local alternator / starter refurb place that can recondition / swap yours

Otherwise get a s/h one from a breakers, new one from motor factors.

A fully charged battery will get you so far - all depends on distance, if you need headlights, windscreen wipers, heaterblower etc. If you go down that route replace the old brush pack

Swapping the alternator is a fairly simple job, just make sure the belt tension is correct.

I think you would be better charging the battery up and potentially using that capacity to collect a replacement alternator today. Time to hit the phones

Right then. So I need to get either refurb, or a second hand one... 65a maybe??

Another question. I have a job tomorrow night, need the van... Is there any way I can use it??

Depends on how far you drive, get the battery fully charged and it sould make a short journey around town on sidelights, away from streetlights you need full beam and that will drain the battery much faster, if you can recharge when you get to your destination even better.

Hi gang...

would this be a straight replacement

https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volk ... 15d&000012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seems like a good deal and with discount I can get it for £55. Quoted at least £60 to refurb mine. Its 65a aswell rather than my 45a

Depends who is saying it's the right one :)

I had a look earlier on ECP gainst my registration and no alternator was found. That doesn't mean they don't have one, the websystem is not always as good as the in house system.

It isn't Bosch, and I don't know what quality RTX are, but if it gets you out of a hole....

More available for yours than mine then :)

What are the other options, if there was a Bosch I would choose that one. It will be more expensive.
