I like the 2.5 SOHC, it suits the T3 really well. Just make sure to do the HG's, I'd recommend the STI MLS version, '642' suffix.

Mr. Tune's looms are 'very cheap'.. If you want a loom conversion that will actually plug into a T3, I have availability from the end of May-ish.

For starters im keeping the deep original sump ( watch the speed bumps) while saving for a shortened one.

Thanks for the HG code, I haven't had time to get a good look at the engine over the weekend to check them but was planning to do the HG's when its out.

I put a hole in my sump from reversing into a kerb, so bought this one from fellows speed shop for about £400 ish. Doesn't fit with the rjes mount so my mate rejiged the mount so it would fit.

I didnt have any issues plugging the loom in , I also have the front extension that plugs into Richards speed sensor . It all worked from day one.

RJES parts are on order, the starter motor turned up today. I'll be popping into the service dept of Woodford Subaru on Saturday to check out prices for the head gaskets etc.

Good Luck!

I bought a 2003 2.5 Legacy for £625 and ran it for 6 months to make sure it was ok. The conversion was done over the winter and I put the van back on the road at Easter.
It's a high roof van and if you worked the old 2.1 hard it wasn't too slow, but it wasn't a relaxing drive. Now I absolutely love it!

It sounds great and the extra power makes it so much nicer to drive, the difficulty is keeping the speed down. It cruises happily at speeds way more than I should be doing and will effortlessly keep pulling in 5th even up decent hills. Did I say I love it? :-)

We had a crazy few months at work. Good for the firm as we are a small business. Not so good for my weekend and evening plans.

I have all the RJES parts now and spent more than I should have on Rocky Mountain Westy exhaust headers!

Head gaskets, timing belt and a few bits and bobs will be fitted this week. I have next week off so I can get a good few hours in.

I'm hoping to have everything done by the end of my week off so I can get out and enjoy the van this year.

Cheers
David

Well it doesn't look like I'll be ready this month.

Finally! Even this took hours, the RJES engine mount needed to be modified, the mounting points didn't line up.
