I'm kinda a expert.. once you drill the jets all bets are off, anything could happen.. normally just a massive yellow flame

But when throttled down to "almost off" they do tend to go a bit yellow dont they?

Aye, which is why I said :-

Surely If you drilled the gas jets larger, as you have, and now too much gas is coming out, that would make it burn rich, with a yellowy flame (not white [as yours is]) because of too little oxygen [in the current mix]?
AlandAnn's original issue and subsequent results after the "modification" are a tad confusing.

Possibly he closed and sealed the room far too well to keep the heat in after the getting the gas warm suggestion? This would eventually result in a white flame due to lack of oxygen?

If it was a brand new set - should have taken it back.
I bought a 'cheap one', absolute beggar to light but when it did it had yellow flames about a foot high!
Took it back, he offered to exchange but I thought better take cash

One more little mistake like that with gas and you could well be not posting this sort of thing here again!

Maybe just ask next time, before breaking the drill out...

If you think that's bad, best I don't spin any dits about my other escapades with a number 5 cookset at the top of a block of flats.

back to my original question, can anyone tell me where I can get new jets for my two ring burner before I do something that I might regret ?

Manufacturer? Good starting point.

You will have to go back to the manufacturer, jets are sized to very exact measurements, to produce the correct flame and output for that appliance. If it's a cheap hob, chances are you wont get spare parts and will just have to buy another.

Thanks, unfortunately I don't have any details on the cooker. Guess I'll just have to buy a new one.
