Yes I know how the electrical diagram shows it connected but in the real world you need connectors, if you don't have the loom how are you making connections to the module and dizzy?
what I getting at is they could be bad connections,

I managed to get a spark finally off HT lead, but following this video I now need a Hall sensor/sender apparently (hopefully) £££

Hang on you borrowed a known good dizzy, hall sender is in the dizzy so why do you need another?

Or maybe the 2.1MV does need a different dizzy. I tried my dizzy in my neighbours 1.9 worked fine. Tried his dizzy in my 2.1 nadda.

Answering my own question....Fundamentally they are the same, only difference is the advance curve that is controlled by the vacuum advance. The 1.9 dizzy should work fine.

Yes dizzy is slightly different but will work, must be connections or batrery low.

Rebuilt Dizzy today, but still won't fire. I've run out of skills. Anyone local who can help? RG8. I imagine whoever can get it running would be quite handy, so maybe interested in this free stuff (1.9DG)

Update on '84. My new Dizzy and spark plugs arrive this week. If that don't work I'll try a compression test on the cylinders - I hope it's not that!

Out of curiosity I split my old 1.9 engine tonight. Whilst doing this I found the pressure relief mini valve under spring instead of on top of it. This would have caused the low oil pressure. I did this when I rebuilt it! Doh. Saying that the shells do look fairly beaten up, any comments on these shells welcome, so I don't feel too much of an idiot. Things like yeah it needed doing anyway etc,

So you have a spark, have you checked dizzy is in right, rotor arm pointing approx. at No1 lead when at TDC ( compression stroke, finger over the spark plug hole you can feel it) , then count them round 1,4,3,2 clockwise.

I assume it's turning over OK and just not firing, remind us Pierburg carb on a 2.1? Tried a table spoon or two of petrol down carb?

Some more description of the situation helps, or better still some pictures of the engine bay.

This is the correct dizzy position but the drive shaft cog could have been put in at almost any angle ( 180 degrees being the most common mistake) so don't go by this picture or Haynes, get to TDC on compression then connect No1 lead to whatever position is next to rotor arm contact, then count around.

Thanks for sticking with this Itchy. 2.1MV with Pierberg 2E3. I moved the fuel pump across and all ancillaries across from 1.9DG. New dizzy and the coil past the ohm test. Spark on king lead as you saw
