Well that was good..... While it lasted!!!! Box I'd pissing oil out of the n/s flange and it looks like it's coming from the bell housing too for good measure.... Just done a 40-50 mile round trip to pick up some parts and when I got there it stank of gear oil!!!!!!
I'm guessing the driveshaft oil seal can't be replaced with the box in situe?

driveshaft seal can be done in situ but access isn't great
input seal if oil leaking into bellhousing is box out job, check spigot bearing in engine
behind input seal is oil thrower maybe damaged or loose in case, easiest to remove bellhousing to do the seal anyway

Thanks Aidan, it's going up on the ramp in the morning for a good clean and run then inspection. I'm amazed how much difference the box has made to the drivability of the van
Just need to stop it leaving it's mark on the road

So.... There was a hole the size of a 5p on the case

covered in some sort of bodge in the late 80's

so for the short term.... It's patched and sealed. Now to weigh up the options

Hi Aidan, it's just above and to the right of the clutch support bracket between the fins, so about 2/3 always up the box
